Thelma L. Melby, age 92, of Richland Center died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Pine Valley Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 12, 1921 in rural Boaz, WI, the daughter of Clarence & Louella (Busby) Shannon. Thelma married Grant Melby on February 16, 1938 and later married Ralph Drake on May 4, 2005. Thelma enjoyed for many years working in the Richland Center School District baking for the children and driving school bus.

Survivors include her six children, Sonja Palmer of Mesa, AZ, Kerry (Sheila) Melby of Richland Center, John (Edwina) Melby of Muscoda, Sharon (Terry) Tanner of Muscoda, Sondra (Nick) Enos of Prescott, AZ, Michael (Linda) Melby of Tucson, AZ, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister Leona Scott of Beloit, WI, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Grant Melby and Ralph Drake, 2 grandchildren Michael Melby and Mitchell Miller, a brother George Shannon, 2 infant brothers and an infant sister.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Clary Memorial Funeral Home in Richland Center with Pastor Craig Peach officiating. Burial will be held in the Basswood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 9:00 AM until the time of services.
